A Greek twist on a classic Lasagna. It's saucy, flavorful, and will have you coming back for more!
Ingredients
1 box of 3 Farm Daughters Cavatappi
3 Tbsp butter
3 Tbsp Parmesan
Olive Oil, to coat pan
1 yellow onion, diced
1.5 lbs ground beef
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
Salt to taste
¼ cup red wine vinegar
¼ cup water
14.5 oz crushed tomatoes
2 Tbsp tomato paste
2 bay leaves
¾ tsp all spice
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp coconut sugar (or regular sugar)
⅓ cup butter
2/3 cup flour
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp nutmeg
4 cups milk
2 eggs

Directions
Get out a 9x13 pan
Preheat oven to 350°
Boil Cavatappi per box instructions, drain, and add 3 Tbsp of butter and 3 Tbsp of Parmesan
In a frying pan add oil and onion, cook until softened.
Add meat. Once browned, add garlic and stir for a minute. So not burn the garlic.
Add in the vinegar and water. Stir well add in spices and bay leaves and sugar. Simmer for 15 min.
While that is simmering make the 3rd Layer, Bechamel.
In a saucepan, add butter and melt. Add flour and stir to cook. Cook until golden.
Add in milk gradually, whisking to combine. Add nutmeg. Stir for 5-7 minutes.
In a small bowl add eggs and scoop about a cup of the bechamel and whisk.
Pour that egg mixture into the saucepan. Add salt and pepper. Remove from heat and allow to thicken.
Assemble the Pastitsio
Layer the pasta then add meat sauce. Use a wooden spoon to fully cover the pasta. Lastly, pour over the bechamel sauce.
Bake in the oven for 60 minutes. Once cooked, let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
Cut into square pieces and enjoy!
