High-Fiber Twists on Classic Thanksgiving Dishes

Thanksgiving is a time for traditions, family recipes scribbled on old index cards, the scent of sage and butter filling the kitchen, and the comfort of food that brings everyone back together. But this year, there’s room for something new on the table, high-fiber, high-flavor dishes that feel familiar yet fresh.

3 Farm Daughters pastas, made from North Dakota wheat, are rich in fiber and protein while keeping that tender, classic pasta bite. They make the perfect canvas for a few healthy takes on holiday favorites, so you can enjoy all the comfort, with a little added goodness in every forkful.

1. Penne "Stuffing" Bake

Let’s be honest,  “stuffing” is more of a loose term at this point. And while bread might be traditional, swapping it for 3 Farm Daughters Penne makes for a version that’s downright craveable.

Think buttery onions, celery, sage, and thyme mingling with hearty pasta that crisps up just enough around the edges. All the same herby, savory comfort… just with a little more texture, and a lot more staying power.

Fair warning: the traditionalists might question it,  right up until they take their first bite.

2. Creamy Pumpkin Rotini

If fall had a flavor, this would be it. Creamy pumpkin sauce hugs every curve of Rotini, with garlic, Parmesan, and crispy sage doing all the heavy lifting. It’s rich, cozy, and unexpectedly elegant, the kind of side that makes people pause mid-bite to ask, “What is this?”

Pro tip: serve it right next to the turkey. The colors pop, the flavors balance beautifully, and everyone will think you’ve been secretly attending culinary school.

Pssst! Did we mention that in the unlikely chance of leftovers, this makes a delicious breakfast bribe for whoever volunteers to wake up before dawn to pop the turkey in the oven?

3. Classic Baked Mac & Cheese

Meet our infamous dish that really requires no introduction... In fact, every year when we try not to make this Mac & Cheese as a Thanksgiving side, we’re met with a chorus of grumblings that err on the side of outrage.

If there’s one of those recipes that’s a Thanksgiving non-negotiable, this has gotta be it. Cheesy, creamy, unctuous and oh-so-indulgent…This Baked Mac & Cheese is the ultimate accomplice for roast turkey, green bean casserole, and everything in between.

Our advice? Don’t even try to skip it this year, this all-time family favorite remains a classic for a reason. Wouldn’t want anyone to cause a scene now, would we?

4. Green Bean Rotini Casserole

Ah, the green bean casserole,  that unassuming dish that somehow manages to divide a room. This version brings everyone back together. Fresh green beans meet Rotini in a creamy, homemade mushroom sauce, topped with those perfectly crispy onions that make it irresistible.

It’s nostalgic, familiar, and just different enough to feel new again. One spoonful and even the skeptics will admit… this might just be the best one yet.

5. Fall Harvest Pasta Salad with Creamy Poppyseed Dessing

Every Thanksgiving table needs a little brightness, something fresh to cut through all the rich, savory flavors. Enter the Fall Harvest Pasta Salad.

Picture Rotini tossed with cranberries, roasted squash, pecans, and a creamy poppyseed dressing that ties it all together. It’s colorful, slightly sweet, and the perfect excuse to claim “balance” when you go back for round two.

Bonus: it tastes even better the next day, so make extra.
